This is the journey of the creation of my smiling pepper mascot, Mr. Chili Ray Compton.
Behind-the-scenes pass into the handcrafted creation of Mr. Chili Ray Compton — my smiling pepper mascot brought to life through vision, patience, creativity, and determination.
Witness the creation process from the ground up, carved completely by hand using simple materials. No expensive equipment. No fancy machines. Just styrofoam, a utility knife, sandpaper, persistence and determination.
This journey is about proving that incredible art and hot sauce can be created using the basics. Every cut, carve, and detail is shaped by hands of Germaine Compton to bring Mr. Chili Ray Compton to life. No hot knife tools were used during the process — keeping the creation cleaner, safer, and focused on true handcrafted artistry.
Before taking on the full-size version, I’m creating a smaller mockup prototype first to shape the vision and test the design. From rough styrofoam blocks to a fully realized mascot character, you’ll get an inside look at every stage of the build process.
